All PTE teachers who want to be deployed to junior secondary schools must first have their documents verified by the Teacher Service Commission.
The commission has recommended that P1 teachers with degree and diploma qualifications apply online through the TSC portal.

Only P1 teachers who meet the minimum qualifications were advised by the commission to submit their information.
TSC has, however, recommended that teachers who are on permanent and pensionable terms at primary schools apply.
On 7th February 2023, the commission is going to carry out the verification process of documents and details that they submitted online before deploying them to junior secondary schools.
The exercise is to be carried out at TSC sub-county offices in every county.
Documents required for the verification process
- Academic certificates like KCSE, PTE, Degree and Diploma certificates,
- Appointment letter
- Leaving certificates
- Transcripts among others.
All teachers who did their diploma and degree certificates outside the country MUST provide clearance from the Commission for University Education.
The Commission has likewise requested that teachers who are requesting deployment but who cannot be located in the Teacher Management Information System (TMIS) get in touch with their Sub County offices and ICT officers for support.
Some teachers have claimed that because their information is not on TMIS, they are unable to apply for deployment. Schools without TSC codes are not on TMIS, which hinders the teacher application process.
Some teachers have complained that applying for deployment is not possible because their details are not on TMIS. Schools that do not have a TSC code are not on TMIS and this hampers the application process for the teachers.
The good news is that some teachers have been added to TMIS temporarily to allow them to apply.
