Following the release of term dates for the year 2021-2023 , the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has given specific timelines when teachers shall perform various activities on TPAD.
The commission has undergone robust changes under the current CEO Dr. Nancy Macharia aimed at improving and professionalising teaching.
The Teacher Service Commission (TSC) came up with teachers professional development tool that guides in career progression for all teachers. TPAD too has been simplified and it’s expected that all teachers should open their accounts for the second term.
According to the employer, each school with the help of ICT expert teacher and the administration. They should come up with TPAD Calendar of activities for each schools that will be inspected by subcounty TSC director in the course of the term.
The activities outlines everything that is conducted in schools including assessment, lesson observation and anything deemed important in teaching fraternity.
The Commission has at the same time given guidelines on how the TPAD will be handled, this term. For instance, teachers have been instructed to strictly adhere to TPAD calendar of activities. In the past, the Commission has penalized teachers who do not follow the stipulated calendar of activities.
A case in point is where a teacher filled all parts of the TPAD online form in the first week of the term. This should not be the case as there are parts of the form that should only be filled towards the end of the term; like the part on learners’ progress.
The schools heads and teachers should have met before school reopening to plan for term activities. End of first week should mark the submission of all teaching requirements including the schemes of work that should be approved by the heads of schools.
Below is the TPAD Calendar of Activities this term
Between week two and ten,the appraiser and appraiser should undertake teacher Professional development to address professional gaps.
Monitoring of TPAD will be done by curriculum support officers and subcounty directors throughout the term.
Tsc noted that teachers award themselves marks without the support evidence. Teachers are expected to scan front page of approved lesson plan, schemes of work other materials and then upload them in the portal.
