Teachers who will be successful in securing employment in the ongoing TSC recruitment interviews will start filling out employment forms on Thursday, January 24th, 2023, through Tuesday, January 31st, 2023.
Currently, TSC is publishing lists of shortlisted candidates, and later the county recruitment process kicks off countrywide to vet applicants, handle complaints, and sign internship agreements and offer letters of employment.
ROADMAP FOR RECRUITMENT OF TEACHERS – January, 2023
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT.
A newly hired teacher is placed on probation for at least six (6) months. If the teacher’s performance is poor, the probation period may be extended in some situations; in the worst-case scenario, the teacher’s job may be terminated before the probation period is over. To be confirmed on permanent terms, the head of the institution completes a recommendation form for the instructor, which is then submitted to TSC for approval.
The teacher is expected to report to the posting institution as specified in the job letter, and he or she has a grace period of 30 days from the effective date, as stated in the letter.
The employment letter also specifies the projected basic salary per year based on the teacher’s entry grade. In addition, the instructor is entitled to monthly compensation based on his or her grade. Allowances available to teachers include, but are not limited to, house allowance and commuter allowance. Teachers who work in difficulty zones receive a hardship allowance in addition to the two allowances. Those who work in schools with differently abled students also receive a special allowance.
The teacher is expected to work anywhere in the country where the Commission deems his or her services needed. Furthermore, the instructor must serve at the initial work station, where the first posting was made, for at least five (5) years before requesting a transfer. However, in some situations, such a teacher may be transferred under special consideration from the Commission on grounds such as medical and security, as determined by the TSC.
The employment letter is also forwarded to the principal or head of the institution, as well as the TSC County Director.
