TSC MEETING NOTES WITH THE DEPARTMENTAL COMMITTEE ON EDUCATION
For the second time in less than a week, the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) appeared before parliament, where the MPs questioned about why thousands of teachers have remained in the same post for many years, about promotion, and about delocalization.
Here are the outcomes of the meeting.
▪️Recruitment will be sub-county based. Sub Counties will be given specified number of slots for permanent and pensionable and internship. Locals from those places to be given priority.
▪️Teachers to apply online on the TSC portal and take advantage of extended deadline. Take note that there is NO application to be made to CDF/Constituency offices.
▪️Recruitment by TSC will mainly prioritize those who have stayed out longest. This non discrimination policy allows teachers to get absorbed in order of their graduation from colleges regardless their grades.
▪️Other issues discussed were delocalization policy, skewed promotions, punitive medical cover, plight of interns, deductions from payslips, regularization of employment, transition to Junior Secondary and TPAD.
NB. Issue No. 4 touches on matters policy. TSC will table a report over issues raised by the Education Committee for scrutiny.
