Serving interns both senior and junior are likely to be awarded 30 Marks by the Teachers Service Commission in the coming recruitment exercise between 22nd to 28th July 2021, unlike in the last interviews where they were awarded 10 marks.
Evidences tabled before the panel will only be a proof for intern teachers to be awarded the 30 marks .Earlier on when the exercise kicked off interns were promised to be awarded the certificate of internship but to date they haven’t received any, this might be working against them because this certificate is among the evidence required to earn 30 marks.
Among the key evidences required to be presented before the panel during recruitment exercise include:
Evidence required by senior interns
1. Three Pay slips for the years 2020 and 2021 certified by the School Head.
2. Letter of recommendation from the principal where you were interned duly certified.
3. Two letters(Extension letter and Letter of Offer) from the County Director of Education detailing when you were contracted
Evidence required by Junior interns
1. Three pay slips for 2021 , ( all original) duly certified by the principal.
2. Letter of recommendation from the principal where you were interned duly certified.
3. Letter of offer contracted (1 year ) from county Director of Education.
What awaits this intern teachers in the coming recruitment exercise is seen not be an easy task to secure TSC Job because the number of the vacancies advertised ain’t enough to absorb them all being that the number contracted is already big. They have sensibly seen the advantage of going through internship being the only sure way they are closer to secure permanent and pensionable Jobs despite slight complains of suffering under the contract in the name of low stepped salaries ranging between (15,000-20,000).Light finally is at the end of the tunnel as they have highly favored in the latest TSC scoresheet.
Online application is on going till 12th July 2021 via TSC website https://hrmis.tsc.go.ke/app/login and only qualified teachers are called upon to apply. In this application the portal accepts only three vacancies per candidate ,both case in mass recruitment and replacement slots amounting to six schools. Teachers raised complains saying that, there before slots were many compared to the recent case.
After online applications is done ,on 13th to 14th July 2021 TSC starts to digital generating all the applicant’s merit lists and later sending to TSC county directors whereby to send individual list to principals in schools that had a vacancies..
It is noted that once the merit lists are sent to counties, some counties tend to delay to send the merit lists to principals, the worst part of it comes when the School Heads also delays to send short text message for interview invitation .Claims from some candidates has been;
- receiving interview invitation messages late or at all no messages sent and this hinders one to secure the job by not attending the interviews. Shortlisted candidates are supposed to be notified days earlier plus the venue before the the day of interview.
In any interview as we all know there must be a tie of successful candidates having the same marks in the process of interviews. But for this July recruitment the interns will face a number of hurdles amongst themselves. The vacancies will not be enough for them and most of them will tie. To break a tie this time the panelists will look at the time of graduation in that year e.g May versus July; May takes the day. Then the KCSE mean grade , and if the mean grade is still the same, they will look at the Grades in the teaching subjects and if they are the same too, they will be narrowing down to the KCPE marks in order to break that tie. If that can’t hold they will go far to check the teaching practice grade that will now break the tie .Some can tend to use the the National ID, so its important to carry National Identification Card.
What about age. Let the commission consider people who went back in school after problems. Plz lm in that blacket.
