In this July 2022 recruitment exercise , the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has given preference to teachers who teach a combination of :
- English/Literature,
- Biology/Agriculture,
- Chemistry/Physics, and
- Mathematics/Physics
According to the stated vacancies, there are 884 positions available for English/literature teachers out of the total vacancies.
In comparison to other subject combinations, there is significantly 253 replacement slots and 631 new requirement slots.
Teachers of mathematics and physics came in second with 112 replacement slots and 419 new recruitment slots, totalling to 531slots.
Chemistry / Biology comes third by getting 115 slots in Replacement and 386 in recruitment, all totalling to 501.
Biology /Agriculture takes the fourth place by getting 158 slots in Replacement and 342 in recruitment, all totalling to 500.
This indicates that secondary schools are severely short on teachers of English/literature, mathematics/physics, biology/agriculture, and chemistry/biology. TSC only announces vacancies in response to demand and teacher shortages in schools.

TSC does not accept hard copy applications and therefore you must carefully submit your application online.
Some teachers have failed to make it to the TSC shortlisting of applicants because of their failure to submit their applications as required.
Eligibility
To qualify for recruitment, a candidate should meet the following basic requirements:
- Be a Kenyan citizen;
- Must be a holder of a P1 certificate in the case of primary schools and a minimum of a diploma in education in the case of secondary schools;
- Must be a registered teacher with Teachers Service Commission.
