Teacher Service Commission is an independent body under Dr Nancy Macharia who is the CEO and she is mandate with all the powers to serve teachers interest.
The commission is responsible for the:
- recruiting
- promoting and
- remuneration of teachers.
Other than that it is also responsible for teachers’ welfare across the country among many other rules.
Following the last month’s recruitment the commission managed to employ 5000 applicants after they underwent series of interviews to pick the best. Due that the Teacher Service commission (TSC) has confirmed to the public that will start issuing the posting letters to new recruits to their new work stations by the end of August.This new recruits are supposed to report by 1st September 2021.
After reporting to their new stations the recruits are expected to sign their casualties immediately and have them submitted to the teachers service commission as a confirmation that they have accepted the employment offer.
Also note that the commission expects to have the new employees report to work within 30 days of submission of their casualties. Meanwhile, the new professionals will have to wait for a minimum of 2-3months for their salaries to be processed.
During the first six months of employment, they will be under probation, a period set aside to asses the professionalism of the new employee. During this observation period, they will be expected to carry out their duties diligently otherwise they will be faced with a potential termination or revocation of the employment offer.
The commission has also reported that is working on plans to recruit more teachers, plus teachers on internship soon so as to curb teachers shortage.
In addition to this , future recruits will also be posted early after employment so as to start working in their new stations.
