The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) announced 488 openings for teachers and teaching interns around the country on Friday, May 26.
The Commission stated in a notice that it was looking to hire 328 interns in junior secondary schools, 16 interns in public secondary schools, 56 permanent and pensionable teachers in post-primary institutions, and 88 contract teachers in Garissa, Wajir, and Mandera.
According to the advertisement, some of the positions are permanent and pensionable, while others are internships or contractual.
Interns will work for a year and will be paid a monthly stipend of Ksh20,000.

The commission advised interested applicants to visit tsc.go.ke and head to the ‘Careers’ section or click on teachersonline.tsc.go.ke for further details.
All applicants must be Kenyan citizens, hold at least a diploma in Education, be registered with TSC, and have a mean grade of C+ and C+ in two teaching subjects (for interns).
Some of the required documents include copies of the Teacher Registration Certificate, National Council for Persons with Disability (NCPWD) card (where applicable), National Identity Card or passport, two colour passport size photographs, National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF), and Kenya Revenue Authority Personal Identification Number (KRA PIN).
The commission informed the candidates that only those shortlisted will be contacted.
“The recruitment is free of charge. The Teacher Service Commission forewarns applicants against fraudsters who might extort money from unsuspecting persons purporting to assist in recruitment,” TSC warned.
Applicants are urged to report fraudulent activities to any police station or to TSC offices.
According to the TSC, timelines for the recruitment of teachers will begin on May 25, 2023, and run till June 26, 2023, while the promotion of teachers will start from May 25, 2023, to July 28, 2023.
The commission, therefore, asked all interested candidates to send their applications before Friday, June 2, 2023.
