The Kenya Medical Training College offers several certificate course for students interested in working in the field of medicine, but failed to attain the grade for a degree.
Many people tend to have the idea that certificate courses are quite useless as they are not marketable. However, this is very wrong and misleading. There are various certificate courses that can land you a good job with a really nice pay. Here are some of these courses;
(1) KMTC Certificate in Orthopaedic Trauma Medicine

(2) KMTC Certificate in Health Records and IT
This is a 2 year course that equips you with the necessary skills to ensure the safety of patients’ records and keeping them updated. It requires the following for admission;

C- in English or Kiswahili
D in Biology
D- in Mathematics
D+ in any other subject
(3) KMTC Certificate in Medical Engineering
Medical Engineering is a 2 year program at certificate level that will secure a person a job in various hospitals in the country. One learns how to install and fix various hospital equipment. Here are the requirements;
KCSE Mean Grade C-
C- in English and Kiswahili
D plain in Mathematics
D plain in Physics and Chemistry
(4) KMTC Certificate in Community Health Nursing.
The duration for this course is two and a half years. Its aim is to equip you with the necessary skills and knowledge for you to take part in various health issues in the community. This course is very marketable as there are very few of these personnel in the country. Requirements for admission include;
KCSE Mean Grade of C-
C- in English and Kiswahili
C- in Biology
D+ in any other subject
(5) KMTC Certificate in Nutrition and Dietetics
A certificate in Nutrition and Dietetics enables you to work in different institutions and with various personal patients. It entails advising on the proper kinds of foods to take. Here are the requirements for the course;
KCSE Mean Grade D+
D+ in English or Kiswahili
D+ in Biology
(6) KMTC Certificate in Nursing
This course requires the following achievements;
KCSE Mean Grade C-
C- in English or Kiswahili
C- in Biology
D+ in Chemistry/ Physics/ Mathematics
(7) KMTC Certificate in Environmental Health sciences.
It is a course that trains you on how to identify and analyze environments and hazardous agents. It requires;

(8) KMTC Certificate in Psychiatric nursing
This course allows you to work in several psychiatric hospitals in the country. Requirements include;

CHPD is a two year program for deaf students. You need at least the following to qualify;

Note that Pharmacy is not offered at certificate level, but one can study it at a diploma level.
