In a circular dated 25th January,2023 Knec directed;
- All Heads of Primary and Secondary Schools presenting Candidates for the 2023 KCPE, KCSE Examinations; and KCSE Qualifying Test and
- All Sub-County Directors of Education.
To register CANDIDATES FOR THE 2023 KCPE KCSE EXAMINATIONS; AND KCSE OUALIFYING TEST
The whole process commenced on 1st February, 2023 and will end on 30th March, 2023.
In line with that, the Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology and the State Department of Education have sent a warning to ALL HEADTEACHERS OF PRIMARY SCHOOLS AND ALL PROPRIATORS OF PRIVATE PRIMARY SCHOOLS THROUGH THE COUNTY DIRECTORS OF EDUCATION not to register grade 7 learners for KCPE.
Below is how the memo seen by educationupdates.co.ke reads.
RE: UNAUTHORISED REGISTRATION OF GRADE 7 JSS LEARNERS AS KCPE 2023 CANDIDATES
This is to inform you that some unprofessional head teachers are receiving on transfer and registering grade 7 Junior Secondary School learners as 2023 KCPE candidates without the consent of the Ministry Of Education offices at the Sub-county, county and regional levels.
Let it be known that such head teachers will be dealt with firmly and held personally accountable for registering illegitimate KCPE candidates. The Ministry has issued all learners including the grade 7 pupils with Unique Personal identifiers (UPI numbers) and it will be very easy to trace such learners.
