Students of St Benedicts Arror Girls in ELgeyo Marakwet were on Sunday January 16 held hostage by unknown bandits who stormed the school while the students were taking lunch at the school’s dining hall.
According to an amateur video doing rounds in social media, the tensed girls lied down while observing pin-drop silence with plates full of what seemed to be githeri lying on the floor.
It’s reported that a section of students ran to the nearby bush to take refuge from the irate bandits.
As per the time of publishing this article the school management and the local administration had not given any communicated concerning the incident.
This incident comes exactly two years after students of Saretho primary school in Garrisa county were attacked by Al-Shabaab Militants. The school had a population of 250 students and 10 teachers was attacked in January 2020.
At the time of the attack the learners were deep asleep in their dormitories. Four pupils, three of whom were siblings, and one teacher were killed.
