All Schools To Break for Half Term Early In Latest Changes
This month, schools in the primary, pre-primary, and secondary grades will take an early midterm break. Dr. Belio Kipsang, the Principal Secretary (PS) for Basic Education in the Ministry of Education, made the revisions official in a circular dated April 24.
The half-term holiday, which was originally slated to run from June 29 to July 2, 2023, will instead run from June 27 to July 1, 2023
2023 High School Calendar
- Term 2: Opening Dates (8th May 2023), closing dates (11th August 2023) (14 weeks) (There will be Half term break of 5 days from 27th June 2023 to 2nd July 2023)
- Holiday for second term: from 12th August 2023 to 27th August 2023 (2 weeks)
- Term 3: Opening Dates (28th August 2023), closing dates (27th October 2023)
- Holiday for third term: from 28th October 2023 to 8th January 2024 (10 weeks)

This letter, Ref. KESSHA/NATCONFF/3/VOL.1/23, from the National Chairman of the Kenya Secondary Schools Heads Association on the aforementioned matter, dated March 26, 2023, is referred to.
The letter mentions that the KESSHA 46th National Conference will be held on the same dates as the second term’s midterm exams as they are currently scheduled.
The National KESSHA Conference is a significant occasion that enables school administrators to reflect on and exchange experiences in managing schools, as acknowledged by the Ministry.
