All schools will resume on Monday, as planned, according to the Ministry of Education.
Basic Education PS Julius Jwan asked all stakeholders to help speed the process of ensuring that all students are enrolled for the upcoming academic year during a news conference held on Friday at Mitihani House in Nairobi.
In order to ensure that all students get admitted, he advised school administrators to be understanding of parents who are struggling financially.
“The opening of the schools remains as scheduled, next week. I want to plead with principals, especially in boarding schools, to treat the parents gently,” Jwan said
“There will be parents who will come with less money; please allow the learners to enter into schools because we will have a very short year,” he advised, “so the learners do not stay at home.”
In a similar vein, he asked parents to cooperate with school authorities to allow their children to study while also working to pay the tuition.
