The Teachers’ Service Commission (TSC) has informed retired teachers that the commission has processed and filed pensions with the Ministry of Treasury and Planning for money payout.
TYPES OF PENSION SCHEMES OFFERED TO TEACHERS
- Compassionate Gratuity – Regulation 28
- Maintenance Allowance – Section 14 (Bankruptcy) and 15 (Conviction-18 months)
- Annual Allowance: Regulation 28(3)
- Pension on Abolition of office or Re-organization of Ministry or Department: Regulation 24
- Injury Pension – Regulation 25
- Dependants’ Pension or Killed on duty pension – Section 19:
- Pension to Dependants on the Death of Officer in service of retirement – Section 17
- Death Gratuity – Section 18
- Injury pension
- Marriage gratuity – Regulation 6:
- Service gratuity
- Service pension plus commuted pension
Additionally, they were directed to access the TSC portal by going to tsc(dot)go(dot)ke to look up the status of their pension.
“The Commission has filed claims for teachers’ pension benefits with the National Treasury,” the Teachers Service Commission declared.
The pension that a retiring teacher will receive is completely based on his previous income.
RETIREMENT AGE FOR TEACHERS
According to the employment act of Kenya, all teachers MUST retire at the age of 60 years.
According to the Teachers Service Commission’s recommendation, a teacher only becomes eligible for pensions after reaching the required retirement age of 60.
Teachers living with disability have an added advantage of 5 years because they retire at the age of 65 years.
Documents Required to fill TSC pension online
For a successful processing of pension claims by TSC a teacher must present the following documents.
- Two copies of KRA PIN certificate
- Copies of marriage certificates/affidavits to confirm names for married teachers whose documents have different names.
- Two copies each of all promotion letters/certificates.
- Two copies of national ID card both sides.
- Teachers who served as Untrained Teachers to attach NSSF statement.
- Well filled TSC clearance certificate.
- Teachers who served as Untrained Teachers to attach NSSF statement.
- Two copies of bank plate both sides.
- Duly completed option to commute pension form in duplicate.
- Duly completed lump sum payment form (bank form).
