NANYUKI HIGH SCHOOL’S BRIEF HISTORY
This is a national boarding secondary school in Nanyuki, Kenya, for boys alone. The school first opened its doors in 1965, with some students being boarders and others being day scholars. After operating as a three-streamed school from its foundation, an A level stream was added in 1983. Since then, the school has worked tirelessly to become one of the best in the county. The school follows the Kenyan curriculum and provides a high-quality 8-4-4 education. The status of the school is described as ordinary.

Nanyuki High School is located in Central Laikipia which is in or near Nanyuki town in Laikipia East constituency, Laikipia county in Kenya.
The school sits on a 53 acre piece of land , giving it enough space for the ample playing field to accommodate all the students. This enables them to sharpen their extra curricular activities, enabling to not only be fit for class but to keep themselves healthy. The students compete in sporting activities.
The school has over 700 students enrolled with a student- teacher ratio of 19 and a total teaching staff of about 36. Clubs available in the school include the drama club, the music club, the sports club and the debate club.

The school is known for doing so well in both local and national examinations. The school usually appears among the top 10 in the county when KCSE results are released.
Nanyuki High School Form one selection;
Here, form one selection is usually done via academic merit in regards to KCPE examinations. The students who have high results and selected the school as the first choice are given higher priority than others. The school also selects the student on need basis where the financial background of the parents is put into consideration.
Why 150,000 sought Form 1 slots at Nanyuki School
For the second year, more than 150,000 KCPE exam candidates wanted to join Nanyuki School, which had only 480 slots.
Education Cabinet Secretary George Magoha on Monday disclosed that the school was the most selected with 156, 003 candidates eyeing to join Form One there.
Last year, 154,524 KCPE exam candidates had selected the School and its remarkable academic growth and focus on technical training has everything to do with the massive interest.
A sharp improvement of the school’s performance over the past four years, as well as introduction of technical subjects, saw the school, in the suburbs of Nanyuki town, attract 154,524 applications.
This made it the most desired school in the country.
When the KCPE 2020 Form One selection began, Prof Magoha announced that more than 154,000 applicants were battling for the school’s 384 slots.
