Today marks the begin of the 3rd week since the schools reopened for the second term in a crash program . The outbreak of covid-19 saw academic calendar being heavily affected.
Due to the health protocols outlined by the ministry of health,the sporting activities were halted in schools.
There has been an outcry that the ministry of education should consider re- introducing games in schools to help learners cope up psycho-social challenges brought about by the covid-19.
It’s due to this that the ministry of education in collaboration with the star department for early learning and basic education , Western region last week give a circular to all education stakeholders.
The circular indicates that the region will have a one day workshop held in Kakamega on 19/10/2021 to look into ways of re- introducing sporting activities in schools.
Games have been used to manage students mental health,instill discipline and to break monotony that is created by academic work.
