Education Cabinet Secretary George Magoha reaffirmed the integrity of the forthcoming National Examinations in both Primary and Secondary schools amid claims of cheating.

Speaking to National School Heads on Thursday in Kisumu County, Magoha said the exam is secure and shall only be accessed by students  on the day of the examinations.

CS Magoha said that the Ministry had received intelligence on several people who are alleged to be peddling fake examination papers to lure unsuspecting Kenyans.

He said a handful of teachers hailing from South Nyanza and Kisii are some of the key culprits notorious for leaking examinations across the country once it leaves the exam containers.

While speaking on the re-opening of schools in January for the third term, Magoha said schools’ capitation funds would be promptly disbursed to ease the running of the institutions.

Magoha similarly reiterated his remarks on Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC) claiming that its implementation is being frustrated by courts.

While exuding confidence that he is ready to battle in court to see the implementation of the CBC if need be, he urged stakeholders to stand firm in defending what they believe in.

“It looks like the courts are being used to stop you. And who said the judge is Jesus Christ? I am not afraid to stand before the court. As a scholar, you must do what is right as far as CBC is concerned,” Magoha said

“I do not expect you to accept CBC wholesomely without giving an intellectual opinion. When we are scholars, we can never agree on everything; if scholars agree on everything, either one of them is stupid or one is not telling the truth because if you are thinking you must differ,” Magoha stated.

While portraying CBC as the future for the country’s education, Magoha hinted that CBC would be the ultimate solution for curbing schools unrest.

“By the time we have CBC children in High school, I want to tell you, no school would be burned because we would have offered these children proper root from the ground,” Magoha explained.

At the same time, the CS revealed that the government would roll out vaccination exercises in schools targeting those of the appropriate age.
