The Media Council of Kenya is an independent national institution established by the Media Council of Kenya Act, No. 46 of 2013, for the purpose of establishing media standards and ensuring compliance with those standards, as stipulated in Article 34(5) of the Kenyan Constitution on Freedom of the Media.
The Kenyan Media Council, in collaboration with well-known media firms, is launching an industrial attachment program aimed at giving journalism students real work experience before graduation and preparing them for the job market.
Duration of the Internship
The internship wilk be for a period of three months (3) May- July 2022 .The Media Council of Kenya will provide a monthly stipend of upto Kshs 15,000 for the trainees’ upkeep.
Requirements
1.Final year student from a recognised university or Middle level College.
2.Letter of Application from The Student.
3. Recommendation letter from the university or college.
4. Academic transcripts.
5. Valid student identification card or Registration Number.
6. Valid MCK Student press card 2022.
7.Evidence of published work or broadcast will be an added advantage.
Placement
Beneficiaries will be placed in recognised media organisations across the country under the following areas of specialisation; Editorial, Radio,Television, Digital and Corporate communications.
Eligibility
Students pursuing degree or diploma in Journalism, Media studies, Communication Digital Media or Public Relations who meet the above requirements are eligible to apply.
