It has been always a trend especially for newly recruited teachers to fill casualties guaranteeing payment whenever they report to their new work stations .This will not happen anymore as the teachers Service Commission has taken a step to abolish completely manual filling of casualties/reports for teachers entering their new stations.
casualty return is a document that is sent to teacher service commission headquarters as an evident to show clearly that the teacher has started working in a given work station.
As from October ,2021 no teacher will be expected to fill manual casualty returns as directed by the TSC CEO Dr. Nancy Macharia In a circular dated 24th August 2021.
This move according to TSC CEO Dr. Macharia is in line with its transformation agenda set out in the 2019–2023 Strategic Plan. With this plan in place the teachers’ employer has ensured to develop the Entry/Exit Report Module. Once the module is available will help in computing its services in relation with;
- posting of teachers
- Transfer of teachers
- Deployment of teachers and
- Filling of the casualties via online system.
From reliable sources educationupdates.co.ke, once teachers do manual filling of the casualties they might end up waiting for a maximum of three months to receive their 1st salary .As directed by TSC once the module implemented fully it will be a smile to newly employed teachers being that no more straining in manual filling.
The Teacher service commission (TSC) took a bold step to train school heads and the CSO(Curriculum support officers ) on how to operate online system for causalities mainly for admitting and releasing newly employed teachers . Newly employed teachers have started receiving their posting letters it is good this group to do online filling of causalities .In fullness of time the teacher service commission tends to phase out manual processes .
Guidelines pertaining the online filling casualties module will be available on the TSC website. This will help head of schools and commission’s field officers to familiarize with the module fully . In case of any clarifications the head of institutions are advised to follow up with the commission’s officers at the county offices.
