List of Teachers Removed and Deregistered From the Register of teachers
The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has deregistered 73 teachers following several disciplinary cases against them.
In a Gazette Notice on Friday, the teachers’ employer CEO Nancy Macharia published the names of the fired teachers alongside their TSC number, disciplinary case number and date of removal.
She said that those listed shall cease from acting as teachers with effect from the date of removal. Out of the 73, ten teachers fired were also removed from the Board of Management (BOM).
According to the TSC, the teachers shall not engage in the teaching service unless such a person is registered under the Teachers Act.
This means that they cannot teach or assist in teaching in any school, according to the Code of Regulations for Teachers.
“A person shall not engage in the teaching service unless such a person is registered as a teacher under this Act,” reads part of the Act.
“Where the name of any teacher is removed from the register under this Act, such name shall not be reinstated except by direction of the Commission.”
Macharia warned schools against employing unregistered teachers in their institutions, failure to which they shall be guilty of an offense and risk a fine of not less than Ksh100,000 or a two-year jail term or both.
