The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) is in charge of student admissions to colleges and universities across Kenya.
Candidates with an overall grade of C+ or higher at KUCCPS are authorized to select up to eight programs for both degrees and diplomas.
For those with a KCSE mean grade of c+ or lower.
Candidates who scored an overall grade of C- or higher but less than C+ may select up to six diploma programs.Choices 2, 3, 4, and 5 for both degree and diploma programs can be any other programs, however Choices 1(a), 1(b), and 1(c) must be comparable programs.
Application for Gender Equality at KUCCPS
Reduction of up to two points on the total cut-off point for female applicants to degree programs, as well as a reduction of up to two points on individual program cut-off points, provided that both genders are represented at a third of the program’s claimed capacity and that this percentage is not exceeded by more than ten percent.
Minority and Marginalized Groups Application for KUCCPS
The Commission for Revenue Allocation (CRA) policy for defining marginalized areas specifies the minority and marginalized communities.
Reduction of the specified program cut-off points by up to 2 points, provided that 10% of the population is represented
Registration for Applicants with Disabilities in the KUCCPS
On the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) website, applicants with impairments can download an application form that must be validated by:
- The school’s principal
- A licensed medical professional
- The NCPWD, or National Council for People with Disabilities
The KUCCPS Board will take into account these application forms. The targets of the affirmative action are:
- All degree applicants with a cumulative GPA of C+ or higher who also have a hearing or vision disability are now subject to fulfilling the minimal entrance requirements for the degree they wish to pursue.
- Subject to meeting the minimal admission requirements for their chosen degree, applicants with physical impairment will be allowed to lower their scores by three points below the overall cutoff point for degree programs.
Online KUCCPS Application Requirements
All applicants must receive a C+ or higher to be considered for degree programs.
Candidates for the K.C.S.E. who will meet the KUCCPS cut-off points for admission to degree and diploma programs must complete the online guidelines.
The KUCCPS Student Portal, located at https://students.kuccps.net, is the same as the KUCCPS Application Portal.
- KCSE Index No,
- KCPE Index No,
- Birth Certificate Number and in addition,
- Enough money in your Mpesa to pay for revision.
If you applied through your school, you will be charged Ksh. 1,000; if not, Ksh. 1,500 will be added to your account.
Registration for Courses and Programs at KUCCPS
Step 1: Go to the KUCCPS registration page and select Applications/Revision.
Step 2: According to the information provided to KNEC, enter your birth certificate number in the top-most tab after entering your index number and the year you took the KCSE exam.
Use your KCSE index number as the password if you did not enter your birth certificate number during KUCCPS registration.
Step 3: There are minimum subject requirements for every program.
You must submit an application for a course for which you have satisfied the prerequisites.
The choice will be made based on performance overall and the capacity that is available.
Click COURSES/PROGRAMMES after successfully logging into the KUCCPS Student Portal.
Using the Institutions Tab, you can also look for courses by institution.
When making your selection, you can add the courses and programs that pique your interest to your course basket.
When making your final list of courses to apply for, this will help you reduce your list.
You will input the Programme Codes after you have done selecting your courses.
Utilizing the Application/Revision tab will allow you to do this.
Verify that the Programme Codes you entered match the courses you want to apply for, then submit the form and follow the instructions for paying the application fee below.
Step 4: Paying the application fee with Mpesa using the KUCCPS Paybill number
a) Use Mpesa on your mobile device to pay the appropriate amount as described below:
- Go to M-PESA on your phone.
- Select Pay Bill option.
- Enter Business no. 820201.
- Enter KCSE Examination year followed by 11 Digit INDEX NO e.g.201401234567891 as your account number. (no space)
- Enter the Amount.
- Enter your M-PESA PIN and Send.
Step 5: Log out once you have finished with the KUCCPS application. This will keep your KUCCPS Registration information in the KUCCPS Student Portal safe.
b) A payment confirmation message will be sent to you from Mpesa. On receipt of the confirmation, continue with the application process. Keep the Mpesa message since you will need the Mpesa transaction ID to confirm the changes made.
