The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) announced on Wednesday, March 22, that only KCSE candidates from 2022 will be qualified to apply for degree programs once the portal opens.
After being opened for applications, the platform will be accessible to all Kenyans, the placement board insisted in answer to questions from hopefuls.
But only programs in technical and vocational education and training will be open to candidates who took the KCSE before 2022. (TVET).
The application period for the courses was for their KCSE lot, according to KUCCPS, and candidates had to submit their applications during that time.
“Will students of other years (2021) be eligible to apply once the portal is accessible to applicants?” Eddy Alara posed.
“Only the candidates who sat for their KCSE the year preceding the selection are eligible for the online degree application. You were supposed to apply for a degree programme last year when we opened the portal for applications,” KUCCPS responded.
On the other hand, KUCCPS stated that it was yet to open the portal for the application process.
The body indicated that the official opening dates for applying for degree and diploma courses would be published on the website in the coming days.
“Communication on the application/revision window will be made through the mainstream media, KUCCPS website and official social media handles in due course. Kindly be on the lookout,” KUCCPS added.
KCSE 2022 candidates are yet to apply for their degree and diploma courses of choice weeks after Education CS Ezekiel Machogu released their results.
The KCSE results were announced on January 20, with Machogu directing KUCCPS to begin preparations for the placement exercise.
KUCCPS Chief Executive Officer Agnes Wahome, on her part, indicated that the process takes quite some time, given the data submitted by Universities
“Before we open there is a process that we must go through including getting all the results from the KNEC, then we have to receive all the programmes offered in universities, and later verify whether they are accredited,” she stated.
