The Competency-Based Assessments (CBA) for Grades 3, 4, 5, and 7 will be held in October, according to the Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC).
David Njengere, the Chief Executive Officer of KNEC, stated in a circular issued on Monday, April 17th, that the assessment materials had already been placed on the CBA portal.
The Integrated Learning Assessment must be completed by grade 3 students between June 5 and August 11.
The English and Math examinations are scheduled for October 2, with results due October 26. Schools will be responsible for scoring and uploading assessment results to the CBA site, which will be made available in PDF and digital formats.
The assessment tools will be made available to students in grades 4 and 5 beginning on July 10, and the scores are due to be uploaded no later than August 11.
Between October 2 and 26, learners in these grades will take the Special Needs Education (SNE) Foundation level assessment and 11 separate written subject exams.
The circular emphasizes that teachers will assess students during performance-based tasks and score them using the provided guidelines.
Color images should be printed in color and uploaded to the digital platforms available in schools if there are assessment tools that need their use.
From July 3 through August 11, grade 7 learners will be assessed on their practicals, projects, and performance tasks. This includes various subjects such as performing arts, visual arts, English, Home Science, Integrated Science, Health Education, Physical Education and Sports, Islamic Religious Education, and Hindu Religious Education.
The Grade 7 written assessment tools for Math, English, Kiswahili, Kenyan Sign Language, and Integrated Science will be made available by the Council on October 2.
The scores for these written tests should be submitted by October 23, 2023.
