Kenya National Bureau of Statistics (KNBS) is a corporate body established under the Statistics Act (2006).

It is the principal Government agency responsible for the collection, compilation, analysis, publication and dissemination of official statistical information and its custody.

It also oversees the coordination, supervision and development of statistical programmes within the National Statistical System (NSS).

Bitter Sad Ending to Itumbe DOK Teachers as TSC Interdicts them

Kenya National Bureau of Statistics in collaboration with other stakeholders will be undertaking the 2022 Kenya Demographic and Health Survey (2022 KDHS) for a period of six (6) months.

The Bureau invites applications from suitably qualified Kenyans to fill the following position: –

Job Title: Field Interviewers
Terms of engagement: Temporary (six (6) months)
Ref: KNBS/FI/1/2021
No. of Posts: Five (5) per County

Job Purpose: Reporting to the Supervisor, the job holder will be responsible for data
collection for the 2022 KDHS.

Key responsibilities

i. Locating the structures and households in the sample clusters;
ii. Identifying all eligible respondents in the selected households and administering the relevant questionnaires appropriately;
iii. Checking completed interviews to ensure that all questions were asked and the responses accurately recorded;
iv. Returning to households to interview respondents who could not be interviewed during the initial visit;
v. Providing a link between supervisors and respondents where call backs are required;

vi. Keeping a record of call backs to enable him/her assess progress, and address challenges;
vii. Recording comments and questions from respondents which were not adequately answered;
viii. Submitting the completed questionnaires appropriately;
ix. Submitting field reports to the Supervisors;
x. Editing work to ensure accuracy and completeness before submitting;

xi. Attending all the relevant trainings and demonstrating competency;
xii. Ensuring that data confidentiality is guaranteed;
xiii. Undertaking any, other work-related assignments as maybe assigned from time to time.

Requirements for Appointment:

i. Must be a Kenyan citizen;
ii. Should have completed at least secondary School level of education, with a minimum of C- (minus) or its equivalent and a Certificate/Diploma;
iii. Applicants with Bachelor Degrees from a recognized institution will have an added advantage;
iv. Must be conversant with the main local language/dialect of the area of work;
v. Should possess good communication skills;
vi. Should be a team player;

vii. Must be available for a period of an uninterrupted seven (7) months from the date of recruitment.

Applicants should fill and submit to the relevant/applicable County Statistics Office hard copies of the employment application form for 2022 KDHS Ref. 93-1-6 which is available in the KNBS county offices/KNBS website accompanied by copies of academic, professional and other relevant certificates, transcripts and testimonials.
