On Monday, May 1st, the Ministry of Defense announced 245 KDF civilian job opportunities and encouraged job seekers around the country to apply.
In a letter published through the Kenya Defense Forces, the government agency asked interested and qualified people to submit their applications before or on May 22, 2023.
Some of the occupations available are:
- Driver II,
- Motor Vehicle Mechanic III,
- Spray Painter III,
- Welder III,
- Tailor,
- Motor Vehicle Electrician III,
- Cook III,
- Clerical Officer II, and
- Senior Support Staff.
There are eight Driver II jobs, with beginning compensation ranging from Sh 15,670 to Sh 17,570 per month, a house allowance based on deployment area, a commuter allowance of Sh 3,000 per month, and a leave allowance of Sh 4,000 per year.
There are 11 artisan positions available, including panel beater III, spray painter III, welder III, tailor III, and motor vehicle electrician III.
All positions pay a monthly basic salary ranging from Sh15,670 to Sh17,570, plus benefits such as a house allowance, commuter allowance, and annual leave allowance.
The Department of Defense is also looking to fill 27 Motor Vehicle Mechanic III positions and 17 Cook III positions.
A Motor Vehicle Mechanic III’s beginning salary is between Sh 15,670 and Sh 17,570 per month, with a Sh 3,000 house allowance, a Sh 3,000 commuting allowance, and a Sh 4,000 yearly leave allowance.
Employees in the position of Cook III earn a housing allowance, a commuter allowance of Sh3,000, and a yearly leave allowance of Sh4,000 in addition to a monthly basic income of Sh15,670 to Sh17,570.
The ministry is looking for 181 senior support staff posts and 22 clerical officer II positions.
The Clerical Officer II position includes a yearly leave allowance of Sh4,000 in addition to a basic pay of Sh16,890 to Sh20,800, a home allowance of Sh3,000, and a commuter allowance of Sh3,000.
The basic monthly salary range for the senior support staff position is between 14,610 and 16,250 Kenyan shillings (Sh). In addition, the position includes a home allowance, a commuting allowance of Sh3,000, and a yearly leave allowance of Sh4,000.

All applicants were instructed to fill out a single application and send it in with copies of the necessary certificates as listed on the website.
The application is available for download at www.publicservice.go.ke on the Public Service Commission’s website.
In addition, those who had already submitted their applications were reminded to send them to the Principal Secretary’s office- Ministry of Defence, P.O. Box 40668 00100, Nairobi or hand delivered to Ulinzi House gate, off Lenana Road on or before the set deadline
The government organization also cautioned job seekers against paying bribes for them to secure any job vacancy
