The Kenya National Examinations Council will be conducting training for teachers/tutors to prepare them to become examiners for Kenya Certificate of Primary Education, Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education, Primary Teacher Education (PTE), Diploma in Teacher Education (DTE), Business and Technical examinations.
Are you interested to be trained as a KNEC Examiner?The Kenya National Examinations Council, KNEC, carries out training for examiners annually or from time to time as need arises. The training of new examiners is informed by:
- increased candidature,
- need to replace exited examiners and whenever new exam papers are introduced.
The training will take place in the coming months. The venue for training will be communicated to qualified applicants at a later date. The training will be residential.
Each applicant will be required to pay training fee of KES. 10,500 through KNEC Mpesa pay bill Number: 819313 using own registered mobile phone number.
For the Account Number, the applicant shall indicate the applicable examination i.e., KCPE; KCSE; PTE; DTE; Business or Technical.
The MPESA Reference Number must be captured on the application form in the space provided.
Qualified applicants will be trained to mark the above examinations. Successful trainees will be incorporated into KNEC Examiners’ database.
KNEC will thereafter engage such examiners using criteria for recruitment of examiners based on the needs.
Teachers/Tutors who are already trained as examiners and are in the KNEC database of examiners need not to apply for the training.
Applications are therefore invited from interested and qualified teachers/tutors to apply.

Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) has advertised training opportunities for teachers to prepare them to become examiners for Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) and Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE).
Application for Knec examiners training is very simple. The application is done online by 25th September 2022.
The 2022 training will take place between 3rd and 9th October 2022.
CONSIDERATIONS WHEN SELECTING EXAMINERS
Apart from the requirements, above, you must also be well versed with considerations that the Council makes when selecting examiners for training. These include:
- regional balancing; such that all areas are given consideration,
- age of the examiner,
- gender balancing,
- work experience and
- professional qualifications among others
