Higher Diplomas at KMTC are now Equivalent to university Degrees.
Higher Diplomas at KMTC –Higher National Diploma Qualifications from the Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) will now be categorized as KNQA level 7, making them equal to a bachelor’s degree, a CPA III, a CPS, or a Master Craft Person I, following a successful examination and subsequent endorsement.
This comes after the Kenya National Qualifications Authority (KNQA) issued the college a certificate of registration and accreditation (QAI).
KNQA Ag. Council Chair CPA Rosemary Njogu praised the College for the crucial role it continues to play in Kenya’s health sector while presenting the Certificate.
“We acknowledge and appreciate the impact that KMTC has had in safeguarding the health of millions of Kenyans and beyond our border,” she said.
“Keeping in mind that the College’s courses are designed to build critical medical skills while incorporating the effective use of modern technology, the accreditation as a QAI will bear significance in Kenya’s medical field and the African Health Sector by extension,” she added.
KMTC Board Chairperson Amb. Zachary Muburi-Muita said, “The decision to register qualifications and learners with KNQA builds confidence in our programmes and has, therefore, opened new opportunities to attract as well as enroll more foreign students while positioning KMTC as the premiere Middle-Level Medical Training College in Kenya and beyond.”
The college presently offers 93 courses, according to Dr. Nyawira Mwangi, the Deputy Director of Academics at KMTC, which were developed to satisfy market demands as well as regional and international standards for health education.
The College has registered 57,268 graduates who finished their course between 2016 and 2021 with KNQA. The additional 16,000 students who will graduate on December 1, 2022, are eligible for registration.
