The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) is responsible for monitoring and assigning duties to teachers who work with Kenyan children.
In 2018, the commission introduced three secondary school principals’ grades under the Career Progression Guidelines, under which TSC developed three secondary school principals’ promoting grades.
Principals are in charge of the school accounting officer as well as the overall operational administration of the institution.
They are also in charge of implementing and ensuring the institution’s educational plans, policies, programs, and curriculum activities.
Principal under T-Scale 13
Requirements
- Must have served as Deputy Principal II/Senior Master I T-Scale 12 for a minimum period of 3years and above
- Must be a Master’s degree holder in a relevant area
- Must have obtained a satisfactory rating in the performance appraisal process (TPAD)
- Must have successfully undertaken the relevant TSC (TPD) modules
- Must have a valid Teaching Certificate/ teacher registration certificate.
- Must have demonstrated an ability to supervise, mentor, and provide professional support to other teachers and the employer
- Must meet the stipulated requirements of Chapter Six (6) of the Constitution
- Must be able to meet any other requirement considered necessary by the Commission 14
Senior Principal T-Scale
Requirements
- Must have served as Principal/Deputy Principal I T-Scale 13 for a minimum period of three (3) years
- Must be a holder of a Master’s Degree in a relevant area.
- Must have a satisfactory rating in the performance appraisal and/or Performance Contracting process.
- Must have demonstrated ability to supervise, mentor, and provide professional support to other teachers
- Must have successfully undertaken the relevant (TPD) modules.
- Must have a valid Teaching Certificate
- Must meet the requirements of Chapter six (6) of the Constitution.
- Must meet any other requirements deemed necessary by the Commission
Chief Principal T- scale 15
Requirements
- Must have served as Senior Principal T-Scale 14 for a minimum period of three (3) years
- Must be a holder of Master’s Degree in a relevant area
- Must have a satisfactory rating in the performance appraisal and performance contracting process.
- Must have demonstrated ability to supervise, mentor, and provide professional support to other teachers
- Must have a valid Teaching Certificate
- Must meet the requirements of Chapter six (6) of the Constitution.
- Must meet any other requirements considered necessary by the Commission
