The organization in charge of managing the teachers’ medical plan, AON Minet, has launched a program targeted at enhancing the staff’s physical, emotional, and social wellbeing.
Following a two-day webinar that was organized by Minet in cooperation with the Commission, the program, known as the TSC Wellness Programme, was introduced in May 2022.
By treating illnesses and providing members with psychosocial assistance, the project hopes to cut down on hospitalizations.
Beneficiaries will have access to a range of treatments through the Chronic Disease Management Program during free medical clinics and online awareness campaigns.
“CDM programmes are proactive and can support patients with illnesses such as diabetes, hypertension, heart failure, and depression,” Minet said in a statement.
Recently, TSC Chief Executive Nancy Macharia underlined the Commission’s commitment to advocating for improved teacher healthcare.
Dr. Macharia specifically urged all of the educators to use the COVID-19 cover to safeguard themselves and their families. She commended Minet for being the first program to cover illnesses connected to COVID-19.
Since the first occurrence of the pandemic was reported in March 2021, at least 1,000 teachers and their loved ones have been admitted to various hospitals with significant COVID-19-related illnesses.
