It’s a new dawn,a new era and new spirit among teachers as the Teachers Service Commission(TSC) finally accords it’s massive workforce a listening ear and loosens the lid on Transfer Rules.
The TSC,whose core mandate is to employ and manage the teachers manpower in the country, has in the past been known to have a tight stance on transfers that affect it’s members depending on the duration of service in a particular station before requesting and becoming eligible to secure a transfer.
In the latest development however,TSC seems to have revised these rules governing teacher transfer from one station to another.
In the ongoing transfer activities countrywide,a number of teachers who had served the commission for a period of less than 5 years were incorporated.
In a circular issued bey TSC,the commission considered permitting it’s members who had atleast 3 years of working period to transfer to other stations.
Besides, the same document intimated that teachers hailing from the north eastern part of kenya are required to work for five years dating from their appointment for them to qualify for movement.
In the past, teachers were required to serve in a station for a period of at least five years in their current stations before being eligible for transfer. This was even confirmed upon employment where a successful candidate pens a commitment letter that ties the said officer to his/her station for a period of five years before considering a Transfer.
In a further consideration,TSC moves to rescue married couples from the crunches of marital issues in future by accepting to move them closer to each other(same working area)
In the past, this rule has been weighing heavily on the backs of teacher couples who found themselves wide adrift courtesy of the delocalization scheme.
This move has been lauded as a perfect act that will help sought out far reaching marital issues.this is clearly an act of dire humanity.
“The Commission shall consider transfer requests for married couples to appropriate stations or locations,” read part of the none monetary CBA signed between the employer and union official.
