The Kenya National Examination Council stake holders are releasing the recently completed Kenya Certificate of Primary Education results today.
While addressing the nation, Teachers Service Commission boss Nancy Macharia has thanked the government for giving them resources to recruit 5,000 teachers annually.
However, Nancy Macharia has admitted that they are currently experiencing shortage of teachers in different parts of the country. The shortage of teachers has been attributed to the higher number of students that are currently joining form one under the recent policy.
The ministry of education had indicated that all students who have sat for their final primary school examinations should proceed to the next level. This is to facilitate the 100% policy that was announced by the ministry.
She now claims that they have a shortage of over 114,000 teachers due to the increased enrollment in their system. Therefore, they will be following up to ensure that both secondary and primary schoosl have balanced ratio of teachers and students.
They will also be sending their Sub-county officers to conduct a field study on the number of students that are currently in different institution. They will be conducting a balanced schedule to ensure that all schools has sufficient resources including teachers when it comes to teaching.
