The Kenya Universities and Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) placement procedure involves interested and eligible KCSE students applying for university or college courses online through the placement portal.
The application process for students consists of 10 stages.
Follow these steps to successfully secure a course and a university or college through KUCCPS:
1. School /Centre Application
Submit your degree and TVET choices at your school.
No placement is done at this stage.
2. First revision of course choices.
The first revision/application system was open from May 17th 2023 to June 7.
Applicants who did not apply through their respective schools had a chance to apply, and those who applied earlier had an opportunity to revise their course choices.
This step occurs after the release of KCSE exam results.
3. Processing placement of Students.
Students are allocated courses based on merit and their choices, considering the available slots.
Successful applicants are notified and should wait for admission letters from their respective institutions.
Unsuccessful applicants are asked to revise their choices (second revision).
4. Second revision of course choices.
This application was open to candidates who missed placement for any of their degree or diploma choices after the first revision.
The system allocates courses based on merit and the applicant’s choices.
Those who do not secure a course are asked to revise their choices again (third revision of choices).
5. Third and Final revision of course choices.
The third revision/application is the final window for Students to apply for courses.
This application is open to candidates who missed placement for any of their degree or diploma choices after the first and second revisions.
6. Placement of students.
Applicants who meet the requirements but are not placed in any of their preferred choices after the third revision will be offered placement in any unfilled programs and universities.
Affirmative action criteria will be applied at the end of the placement process.
7. Final approval of placement.
The KUCCPS Board will give the final approval of the placement of applicants after the completion of the process.
8. Communication of results.
The results of the application (first, second, and third revisions) will be communicated to the applicants via the website www.kuccps.net or SMS as soon as they are available after the selection process is completed.
9. Download of Admission letters.
Admission letters for successful applicants will be sent by the individual higher learning institutions where the applicants will be placed.
10. Inter-university transfer
Applicants who have already been selected for courses in universities or colleges and wish to transfer to other institutions/courses may take advantage of this opportunity.
