When parents are taking their children for admission in their respective schools, Education Cs Magoha has listed the items that schools should not ask parents to produce since they are not mandatory
This comes to parents as a relief during this hard economic times since the ministry has asked principals not to put so many materials in the admission letter.
The form one students are expected to report to their respective stations as from Wednesday 4th May.
The items that the ministry deems unnecessary for learners that schools have demanding form one students to be in possession of include;
- Exercise Books
- Class Readers
- Novels
- Photocopying papers
- Foolscaps
- Atlases
- Mathematical Tables
- Hockey sticks
- Pangas
- Jembes
- Slashes
- Hand Brushes
Speaking when he announced the placement of Form Ones on Monday, April 11, Magoha indicated that some of these items have been increasing the cost of learners joining form one and therefore schools should reduce the number of items to make education affordable for all.
The CS asked principals to admit all learners who have been allocated in the institution irrespective of whether they have paid the full school fees or otherwise.
Some schools have been turning down students for lacking some of these items. Magoha cautioned them saying that they will face the law if they fail to admit any student.
