The placement of almost 1.2 million students who took their KCPE examinations in March this year has been decided, according to the Ministry of Education.
Prof. George Magoha, the Education Cabinet Secretary, stated in Nairobi that the selection and placement of children in secondary schools is done through a computerized system.
A total of 38,797 students were assigned to national schools, 214,960 to extra-county schools, 258,456 to county schools, 726,311 to sub-county schools, and 2,045 to special needs schools.
Candidates and their parents or guardians can now access online joining instructions for all kinds of schools at www.education.go.ke, or verify the results by texting the candidate’s index number simply to 22263.
SMS your index number to 22263 to check secondary school selection (the code works for safaricom, Airtel and Telkom). The cost of sending a text message is Ksh. 25.
All shapes and sizes On Tuesday, May 3, 2022, pupils who have been selected to attend secondary schools will be obliged to report to school.
Magoha indicated that his Ministry will collaborate with the Ministry of Interior, which is led by CS Fred Matiang’i, to ensure that all students enroll in secondary schools.
“All of our 1,225,505 KCPE 2021 candidates have got spots in our 9,200 public schools,” CS Magoha said.
The CS noted with concern that a number of KCPE candidates struggled with selecting schools noting that they had not received proper guidance on the same. He urged parents and teachers to step in and assist them in the process.
