What a moment of joy among teachers across the country as the Labor Court has put on hold the roll out of the professional Development Training Module till further notice.
Labor Court Judge Brian Ong’ya says the development training was given without advice from the other party and therefore teachers are unprepared.
This comes at a time when the Teachers Service Commission had warned teachers planning to not follow professional development training that they risk losing their jobs. Teachers can now finally smile because the program was expensive
The cost was to be borne by the individual teachers, which could strain them given the tough economic times and the meager salaries they receive.
TSC Boss Dr. Nancy Macharia had said that the training would be beneficial for the teachers as it would continuously update their knowledge and skills and make them relevant in the field of teaching.
Ultimately, the court heard the call of the teachers by temporarily stopping the training.
