It is such a wonderful pleasure when one receives KCSE results after the four or so years of study in high school. However such a wonderful joy sometimes turns into tears when one finds himself/ herself in an institution that does not meet the intended self wishes and aspirations .
This happens because one lacks the basic knowledge and ideas required when one is making this important decision. It should be noted that choosing a college or University is one of the most important decisions one needs to make in his/her life.
The college or University one attends has a lasting impact on both personal and professional life of a person. .
Here are some of the factors to be considered when one is seeking or Accepting admission letters in these institutions of higher learning:
1.Accreditation.
This is the most important thing to do .before one joins a given Institution, it is inorder for to find out whether the Institution is fully licenced and its curriculum meets the academic standards of higher education . In the past people have pumbed school fees to many Institutions only to realize later that they were not credited to offer given courses or they are people’s businesses.
2.Type of school.
One needs to choose an institution where his/her interests and abilities are. This is because most colleges tend to lean towards one direction for example,if one is interested in pursuing arts, he/she should not seek admission in an institution that concentrates on engineering and other courses.
3. Geographic location.
This will also have a big impact on one’s overall experience in the college.
If you hate the Institution, it means that you will suffering from day one up to the last day of about 2- 4 years depending on the length of your course study.
It is therefore advisable that one makes a trip to to have a general outlook of the place before considering it a permanent place of study for a given period of time .
3.Type of school.
A school’s size tells a lot about it.large Institutions usually have more resources which include facilities like libraries, housing , health Centres, athletic facilities, culture, entertainment etc.
However, small colleges can equally have plenty to offer in certain disciplines since lectures tend to concentrate more on the small number of learners.
5.Academic quality.
This helps one to know what he/she wants to study and what one needs to gain from the college experience.it is equally in order for one to have information on job placement statistics in various departments as well as the percentage of students who are able to find jobs after graduation.
6.overall cost.
Private Institutions are usually expensive compared to public Institutions. Equally private Institutions tend to offer more grants and scholarships. If money is a problem, it is advisable to study at a community college at home to avoid fees frustrations.
I will be glad to join any institution of kmtc because the give best quality
