It is now clear that teachers have a CBC upgrade certificate will stand high chances in the forthcoming TSC July recruitment.
While applying for the the advertised posts primary school teacher is supposed to indicate whether one has a CBC Upgrade Certificate.
The applicant is further required to declare that the information in the application is authentic.
“I hereby declare that the information in this application is true to the best of my knowledge. I am also aware that any false information will lead to direct Disqualification/ Disciplinary action, without further reference to me by the Teachers Service Commission,” read instruction in the tsc portal.
Suitable candidates have until July 7 to apply online through the TSC website www.tsc.go.ke under ‘Careers’ or teachersonline.tsc.go.ke.
There will be no manual applications. Dr Macharia said the shortlisted candidates, interview dates and venues will be published on the TSC website by July 15.
They will then be expected to present original academic and professional certificates during the interview.
The Commission further indicated that Primary school vacancies will be filled using the Merit Lists that were generated. Successful candidates will be informed by the County Directors of the counties where they were merited.
Last year Dr. Reuben Nthamburi, Director of Quality Assurance and Standards, developed a framework for teacher entry requirements that required teachers with ECDE, Primary Teacher Education (PTE), and Diploma in Teacher Education (DTE) certificates to have a Post Training Certificate (PTC) to be certified to teach the Competency Based Curriculum (CBC).
Teachers will be guided by CBC Learning Domains and Pedagogy, 21st century teacher education principles and practices, andragogy and Lifelong Learning Assessment, action research, and inclusion, according to the Commission.
Other topics covered by the PTC include coaching and mentoring, as well as identifying and cultivating learner potential.Teachers will also receive training in Blending Content and Pedagogy Micro Teaching, Practicum Supervision and Assessment Reflective Teaching, and Pedagogical and Reasoning over the nine-month upgrade program.
