As the April holidays come to an end, parents and students are in for a marathon as the new 2022 academic year starts from Monday 25th.
Parents and students should be aware that after the marathon academic year of 2023, the academic calendar will return to normal.
Parents of children in class seven should be aware that their children will be in Form One by January 2023 (next year).
Parents of Grade 5 children should be aware that their children will be in Junior Secondary School by January 2023.
Apart from the major Easter holiday in April, 2023 will be another year with fairly limited holidays.
The academic calendar for 2022/2023
The 2022 Kenya School Calendar
Term One of 2022
The school year in 2022 will begin on 25/04/2022 and ends on 1/07/2022.
Term 1 in 2022 will run for 10 weeks, from 25th April to 1st July. Students will then proceed to a short, 1-week holiday break from the 2nd of July to the 10th of July 2022
Term Two of 2022
Term 2, 2022 will start on 11th July to 16th September, followed by a 3 day half term break from 11th August to 14th August. Schools will then on 17th September 2022 for a week- long term 2 holiday break.
Note:During term 2, there will be a midterm for one week from August 6 to 13 to enable the General Elections to be conducted on August 9.
Term Three of 2022
This term starts from September 26 to November 25, 2022. The term will be shorter at 9 weeks. It will not have a midterm.
Examinations
- The current grade seven students will sit for KCPE from November 28 to December 1, 2022
- The current Form 3 students will sit for their KCSE from December 1 to December 23, 2022
- The current grade five students will sit for CBC National Assessment the Kenya Certificate of Basic Education (KCBE).
2023 School Calendar
The 2023 school calendar will start on 23rd January 2023 and end on 03/11/2023.
Kenyan schools will resume the almost normal academic calendar again starting from 23rd January 2023. KCPE and KCSE national exams will be done in November 2023.
