ASUMBI GIRLS HIGH SCHOOL’S BRIEF HISTORY

Asumbi Girls High School is a national girls boarding school that is managed by Board of governors. It was started on 19th March 1936, by the Franciscan Missionary Sisters of Saint Joseph as Lower Boarding Primary school.

The school is founded on christian values and is sponsored by the Mill Hill missionaries of the then Catholic Diocese of Kisumu. Asumbi Girls’ Secondary School became a full-fledged government in 1965 and is a four streamed public girls boarding secondary school that sits on 20 acres of land.

 Asumbi Girls High School KCSE performance;(2018-2020)

The national school has had a progressive and improving mean score in the national exams.

In the 2018 KCSE results, Asumbi Girls High school ranked position 8 overall in Nyanza region with a mean score of 7.85. It was the best girls’ school in the region

In the 2019 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education, KCSE, exams the school posted good results to rank among the best schools in the County. This is after recording a mean score of 8.58519.

ASUMBI GIRLS HIGH SCHOOL’S FORM ONE SELECTION CRITERIA & ADMISSIONS

Being a public school, form one admissions are done by the Ministry of Education. Vacancies are available on competitive basis. Those seeking admissions can though directly contact the school or pay a visit for further guidelines.

The school admits over 250 students every year. Every student is required to bring the following items on the admission day:

  • Admission letter.
  • Admission form duly completed.
  • Two certified passport size photo’s in school uniform
  • Original/photocopy of certified KCPE result slip.
  • Original/photocopy of school leaving certificate.
  • Original/photocopy of your birth certificate.
  • Some pocket money maximum 500 hundred shillings for the school identity card.
  • A copy of Parents/Guardians ID card.
