Students have begun their three-day half-term holiday today Wednesday 15th march 2023.
Students are expected to return to school on Monday of next week(week 9).
The Ministry of Education changed the timeframe of the national exams in the 2023 school calendar last month.
According to a circular issued by the Department of Early Learning and Basic Education, PS Belio Kipsang, the half-term break will run from March 16 to March 19.
The learners were supposed to take a break on March 23 and resume on March 26.
The circular was copied to Education CS Ezekiel Machogu, TSC Secretary Nancy Macharia, and KNEC CEO David Njengere.
“KCPE and KPSEA will begin on November 30 and end on November 2,” the circular reads.
This means that the exam will last four days, as indicated by the initial calendar.
Exams for the KCSE will also be held from November 3 to November 24.
This takes 21 days, and the initial calendar indicated that the KCSE would be held from November 10 to December 1.
“KCSE marking will begin on November 27 to December 15,” the circular reads.
The first term will last 13 weeks, the second term will last 14 weeks, and the third term will last 10 weeks.
Students will be on holiday from October 28 to January 8, after originally being scheduled to take a two-month break from November 3 to 2024.
